Sometimes people ask me for romantic advice. My advice? Hang your future girlfriend’s painting right-side up for God’s sake.
What I did at the auction was really the first time I embraced my freedom and refused to let go of it. And everything before that, when I was being obedient to the system — that I knew was destructive to my own future, that I KNEW was unjust, that was really sacrificing my freedom, when I knew that I had to consider myself too helpless to do anything about this.
